Where is the Door to the Tavern?
A wild setting of a selection from the anthology "The Gift"- adaptations/interpretations of Sufi poet Hafiz, by Daniel Ladinsky. Hafiz often wrote of being intoxicated by God, and in this text, anything is a potential "door to God." This rowdy, rhythmic celebration, accompanied by double bass and pitched water-filled bottles was most definitely inspired by blowing across the mouths of longnecks while imbibing at my local brewpub!

Where is the Door to the Tavern?
Hafiz (14th c.) translated by Daniel Ladinsky
Where is the door to the tavern?
Where is the door to God?
In the sound of a barking dog
In the ring of a hammer
[In a drop of rain]
In the face of everyone I see.
